ABOUT ME

She is a Cinema and TV Director and Screenwriter and, moreover, Director of the Cinema School “Cine en Acción” and of the Producer Company “Cinenaccion Producciones”.

She holds a BA in Publicity and Public Relations from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, she obtained a Diploma in Directing and Screenwriting from Academia Quincedeoctubre, where she led the short film “Santa Maria” recorded in 16mm, and a Diploma in Camera and Photography Direction from IDEP.

Raquel Choy in 2016 finished her feature film “The Invasion of the Symbiotic Pigs”, of which she was the director, screenwriter and producer, and which was featured in the Muestra de Cine Inédite de Jaén, in the festivals B-Retina and Horrorvision of Barcelona and in the Fantastic Gore Festival of Amposta, Tarragona. Previously, she was the Direction Assistant in the film “Memories of Alicia” presented in the Film Festival of Moscow in 2012.

Among her short films we mention that in 2017 she carried out the direction, screewriting and production of “X”, featured in the Sitges Film Festival 2017 – Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico de Cataluña, and which has been selected and has achieved several awards in a number of international and national festivals: Winner of a Gold Award at the Spotlight Horror Film Awards 2017, Best Horror Short in Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards 2017, Winner of two Awards of Excellence (for Short Film and Women Filmmakers) at the Festival Accolade Global Film Competition 2018, Winner of the Best Foreign Short in the California International Shorts Festival Spring 2018, a Platinum Award in the International Independent Film Awards summer 2018 in California, Finalist at Festival Canada Shorts 2018, Award of Merit in the Global Shorts Festival 2019, Official Selection in Dumbo Film Festival 2019, an Award of Excellence in Vegas Movie Awards, Winner in the European Screen Awards 2019, Winner of Best International Short Film in Toronto Short Film TV Channel Festival 2020, Winner of Best Horror / Mistery / Crime Short Film in Assurdo Film Festival 2020, Winner of Outstanding Achievement in Madras Independent Film Festival 2020, Best Thriller / Horror in Onyko Awards Films 2020, Best Crime, Best Sound Design and Best Special Makeup in Rome International Movie Awards 2020, Honorable Mention in Tokyo International Short Film Festival 2021, Winne in Red Movie Awards (Reims Excellence Director) 2021, Finalist in Seoul International Short Film Festival 2021, among others.

Other outstanding short film projects are “Conspiración (Conspiration)” and “La Habitación Blanca (the White Room)”; the latter was presented in the Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico de Sitges 2008.

Focusing on her role as a screenwriter, she developed the original idea, the bible, the pilot’s screenplay and the play list of the plots of the TV Series “Ánima”, sold to Cuarzo Producciones, S.L. (at present she is the owner of its exploitation rights again) and the script of short film “Bajo la Tierra”. 

She has also been the screenwriter and executive producer of the short film “Entrañas” by Joan Manel Moran which is now in postproduction and, from the same director, she is developing the script of the feature movie "Empatía".

She has written the script of the feature movie “The Reflection of the Myth” which has been Semi-Finalist in the Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2019, Winner of the Silver Prize of the Festival Europe Screen Awards 2019, an Award of Prestige in Vegas Movie Awards 2020 and Best Thriller in Los Angeles Film and Script Festival 2020. This script has been the starting point of the television series "Mythos", whose bible and script of the pilot episode she has written. She also has directed its teaser in 2024.

In 2024 she has also directed and written the script for the “Oksana” music video by the Spanish band Toxic Army, which is about the Chernobyl disaster. She has also written the script for a musical theater play called “¿Y Esto Pa’ Qué?” of which she is also the director. This play premiered in 2025 at the "La Bòbila" theater in the city of Barcelona. 

Nowadays she is seeking co-productions and financing for the TV series Mythos.
